Here you will find some basic memory troubleshooting tips to try if you're having problems with your GeIL memory.
A very important rule of thumb when installing new memory modules is that you should reset all your existing memory configuration parameters in the BIOS back to default. Chances are your existing settings for the old memory will not work with the new memory you just purchased and you will likely experience boot failure. All GeIL memory modules are programmed with Fail-Safe SPD that is in compliance with the JEDEC Standards. This means the memory will boot up on the default settings of DDR2-800Mhz with CAS 5-5-5-15 and DRAM Voltage of 1.8v. If you have already installed the new memory without resetting the BIOS and system no longer boots, you can put the old memory back in the system in order to boot into the BIOS and reset the memory parameters. If you no longer have your old memory present, you may follow the instructions below to perform a hard-clear of the CMOS:
1. Shut down system & turn off main switch then unplug power cord.
2. Press the front power button several times to discharge the residual power.
3. Place the CMOS Jumper in the "Clear" position.
4. Remove the CMOS battery & remove all memory modules then Wait for a good 10 minutes.
5. install one memory module, return the jumper back to its default position.
6. Pop the CMOS battery back in then plug in power & turn on main switch on back.
7. Your BIOS should be completely cleared and defaulted.
If your system continues to refuse to boot up, you should try the memory in another system. It can be your own spare system or your friends' systems, as long as it supports the memory you have. This way you can tell if the memory modules are defective or not. If you have determined that the memory modules are defective, you may apply for a RMA No. on the RMA Page to have your GeIL memory replaced under the limited life-time warranty. If you need any further assistance with your GeIL memory products, please email support@geilusa.com or post on our Support Forums here http://www.geilusa.com/forum/index.php
